Acid Reflux

Has your child ever said to you (repeatedly), "Mommy I threw up in my mouth but I swallowed it."? Well, Todd has. I shrugged it off as something gross. Now fast forward to yesterday. I took Todd to the dentist. The dentist shook his head and said, "This isn't good." This dentist saw Todd eight months ago. He said when I see this much deterioration over a short amount of time it sends up a red flag that he may have acid reflux. Do What? He sends me to the pediatrician. On the way there, Todd tells me he threw up in his mouth but swallowed it. :) I asked him if it burned. He replied, "No, it was really hot". I don't know how long this has been going on. He has complained about his stomach hurting. I would ask if he needed to throw up. He would reply that he already did. There was never any visible sign of throw up so again I shrugged it off as something gross. To make a long story short. Todd has acid reflux. It has ruint seven baby teeth and the dentist said there is more stuff cropping up. Adam and I feel horrible that he has been suffering with this and we never knew. So, ladies and gents if your child complains to you about throwing up in their mouth, you might take a second look.

So good to know! I wouldn't have thought anything of it either! I hope it is okay!

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Something I would've brushed off too. Who would've thought of a kid having acid reflux and not having signs (that we understand). Good luck and I hope all goes well!

Poor Todd. Us moms would have all done the same thing. So don't feel bad. I'm glad Todd won't be throwing up anymore...I know all about GERD...it's no fun. Thank heavens for good drugs :)
