Happy Mother's Day!

Today is the day we celebrate mothers. These three little creatures I hold in my arms have made me a mother. I love them with every ounce of my being. They are funny, difficult, sweet, dramatic, rewarding, cranky, and then some. As mothers, we don't receive special awards or recognition for all the things we do. Nope, no pay raises. I decided I would reward myself with recognition for the following:
  • Todd has made it to school all year on time with only three tardies.

I think that all parents deserve something for that! I mean just getting them going that early in the morning, dressed with matching shoes on is a feat in itself. I think he has only left his lunch at home twice. See what I mean, awesome!

  • Reagan generally leaves the house with her hair combed 90% of the time.

I think any parent with a daughter deserves recognition for getting their hair combed. This is a daily thorn in my side. You have to account for an extra 15 to 20 minutes (depending on the kid) of preparation before heading out the door. I do love the finished look! She is such a beautiful girl with long blonde hair.

  • I have nursed Layton now for almost 8 months.

I think any mother that lasts past that two week mark deserves a huge gold star. Layton was by far the hardest baby to nurse in the beginning. He latched on funny or something. I think he also thought he should be attached to me 24/7. Every time he would latch on I thought I might pass out. We are passed that stage now! Now, we get to experience this with teeth. I have never had any of my kids bite more than he has. Todd and Reagan started crying when I yelped with them. It scares Layton but after the thought he just smiles at me and goes right back to it.

That all being said, I would not trade one single moment of this journey. Just today, I got to experience Reagan sticking a bean up her nose. I mean, how often to you get to squeeze a bean out of someones nose!

I also need to thank my wonderful husband, Adam, for an amazing day. He treated me to breakfast in bed. He also took care of lunch and dinner. Dinner was so good! He always does such a great job!

Happy Mother's Day!
