Layton turns 5 months old

I can sit up all by myself

Layton is getting so big. We are just in awe of this little guy and how big he is getting. He loves to grab at everything. He is getting really good at sitting up all by himself.

Todd and Reagan really love him. Layton just adores Todd and gets so excited when he plays with him.

Valentine's Day

My snuggle bunnies

Adam woke me up to breakfast in bed. It was wonderful! I wish I would have taken a picture. This picture shows how we spent most of the morning. (thanks to 1:00 church) All you see is my arm. Sophie, our dog, is somewhere under the blankets too. Don't we look so comfy and cozy? Todd asked me, "Mommy will you be my Valentine?" I am the luckiest girl in the world!

Feeding Our Familes

I love food! I love finding new recipes. I love seeing my kids actually enjoy dinner time. I love getting recipes that real families like mine can make and enjoy. Trading recipes is also so much fun. Michelle came with an idea to make a blog just for our recipes. It sounded great to me and within a few hours our blog, www.feedingourfamilies.blogspot.com was born. We have several families on board posting up their recipes. If anyone has any great recipes they would love to share, drop me an email and I will post it up. Happy eating!

The Most Snow Ever!

Yesterday, we hit the record books here in DFW. We had the most snow in one day on record. We have 10 inches in some parts of our yard.

The stairs to the trampoline are completely covered. Can you see the wagon?

In honor of all this snow we made snow cream. Adam also brought out some of his snow cone flavors and made us a gigantic "authentic" blue coconut snow cone.

Countdown to Valentine's Day #9

On day 9 we had to come up with a creative way to say, "I love You". I sent Adam 3 texts.
  1. A picture of my eye

  2. the word "LOVE"

  3. A picture of me pointing to him
I think he liked it. He said it was very creative. Don't tell him I saw it months ago on the Love Actually blog.

Adam is taking Advanced Electrical right now. This is what he sent me and I LOVED IT!

He did tell me that the guy that sits behind him gave him a hard time over this.

14 Reasons Why I love You

This year I implemented a countdown to Valentine's day. On day 4 we were to tell each other 14 reasons why I love you. I sent Adam my list via text. They were each carefully thought out and I thought they were very sweet. Adam sent me four reasons via text and said I would get the rest later. As we were alone sitting at the dinner table he verbally went through the reasons counting down on his fingers. I don't know how many he recited because by the time he got to reason # 8 I didn't hear anything else.

REASON #8: You try to be neat and organized but you are NOT. I love that about you.

I just sat there with my mouth open. I think by the look on my face he felt he needed to say something. "The house is always clean! I just love that you try to be neat and organized but you're not."

I just want everyone to know that he is still alive.

Character Champion

Introducing Todd Killebrew
Miss Moretti's Class
Character Champion
*
Last Friday Todd's school had their Power Rally. It's their awards assembly. They announce the students with all A's and A's and B's. The announce students with Perfect Attendance. Todd has had perfect attendance the whole year. They also announce their classroom's Character Champion. I had a feeling that Todd was going to get it. He has been so good. His behavior chart has been perfect since October. His report card was perfect. We were all ready to attend the Power Rally when Reagan fell backwards onto the fireplace and cut her head open while playing on Layton's toy. I was sad I missed it but still extremely proud of Todd. He is such an amazing little guy. We love him very much!

*An added bonus Todd's class was also selected as the Character Classroom.

I HATE Shopping with Kids

Last Saturday, I desperately needed to get a few sheets of scrapbook paper. I had the kids to myself since Adam was helping someone and was going to be gone most of the day. It was around four in the afternoon. I pumped myself up before going in. You can do this! All you have to get is a few sheets of paper. IN and OUT.

I get the paper and head to the check out line. They had these cute retractable measuring tapes on display. By the time I had realized it Todd and Reagan had lined up about ten of these. Pulling them out then pushing the button and watching them go back in. The line is long. I take the tapes away from the kids and tell them to stand by the cart. Layton starts to fuss. This is viscous cycle that goes on for about five grueling minutes. The two year old didn't want to quit touching EVERYTHING. I finally make it to the cashier. At this point Reagan has changed her strategy and has been playing on the shopping carts. Layton is really mad now because he is hungry. Now, if I would have been the cashier I would have tried to get me out of here ASAP. No, not her. She thought this would be the perfect time to put lotion on her hands and pull out her bottle of water. After the cashier takes her second swig of water, Reagan decides to leave the store. The lady starts to scan my four sheets of paper through. Todd decides to save Reagan. Reagan is screaming while Todd is dragging her back through the doors. Layton is crying. I pay the lady and try to get out as fast as I can.

Before leaving, I hear the cashier greet the next customer, "Hello, how are you today?" The lady responds, "I am glad my children are grown." To which the cashier replies, "I am glad I never had children."
